Good afternoon, all,
I hope this message finds you well. As the Director of Veterans Services for the City of Fall River, I am reaching out to extend a heartfelt invitation to a small, yet meaningful observance for Agent Orange Awareness Day. Knowing that a lot of the veteran organizations are on summer months and veterans have traveled outside the area, this is in no way a mandatory event!
On August 10th, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., I will be at Bicentennial Park, where the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall stands with a dedicated statue honoring those affected by Agent Orange. This will be a solemn occasion where I will lay a wreath, read a prayer, and render a salute to honor those who have suffered and/or lost their lives due to this devastating chemical agent. Please note that this observance will be non-ceremonial, without speakers or an honor guard. It will be a simple, respectful gathering, allowing us to come together as a veteran community in a gesture of gratitude and remembrance.
While attendance is not mandatory, I encourage you to join us if you are able, as we are marking this important day. Your presence will signify our collective respect and acknowledgment of those who have paid the ultimate price in service. Looking ahead, we are planning to organize a more formal ceremony in the future to further honor this day and its significance. Your support and participation in this initial observance will help pave the way for a more comprehensive commemoration. Thank you for your attention to this invitation. I look forward to the possibility of joining together to honor those affected by Agent Orange.
Warm regards,
Talos “Doc” Farris
